this little light of mine

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our Light, not our Darkness, that most frightens us.

This is a conversation with myself, a heart to heart, truth telling conversation that I needed to hear. Maybe you need to hear it as well.

Let's talk about light, about that spark of genius within, and let's talk about where you have been hiding it and why.

Your body has been hunched over and drawn in for most of your life. It is no wonder that you have shoulder and neck pain. You've been tucking your light within, holding it close, protecting it. You body is done, it is saying enough is enough. Guess what? Your heart and mind and the whole fucking world are saying the same thing.

It is time to let your light shine.

I know that you have been scared to release that light in full force. I know that you have been willing to be less than because it is overwhelming to think what life could be if you shined your brightest, if your grandest dreams came true. Who are we kidding? You don't even allow yourself to dream because it is too frightening, it is too hard to risk disappointment.

I know that you have hidden your light within because you have been repeatedly told that you are too much, that you suck all the air out of the room, that you are too serious. You know that you haven't even allowed a fraction of your light out and already it is too much? What would it mean if you released it all? You fear self destruction, you fear burning up all those around you, and you fear losing those who cannot stand to be within your light.

How is that working for you? How is that serving you? Are you better off for keeping all of that light locked up within?  Have you been able to preserve friendships and relationship and status quo? Or are you slowly dying?

It's time to remove the cover, to let it loose, to shine bright, my love. It is time to own your power. Live your good life. It's ok to have a good life! It's OK to have a beautiful and wondrous life! You don't have to apologize for that. Reach for it and reach for more than that.

Paint, write, make poetry.
Create your dream home.
Love your husband and children with unrelenting love.
Manifest your bright and wonderful art studio.
Believe that you can have all that you ever dreamed of and more.
Believe that you are good and wondrous person.
Believe in magic, the magical being that is you.
Let her be in the world.
The ones that will love you will love you.
The ones that can't won't.

In some ways, it's not their fault that they can't love you for all that you are. It's not your fault either though. Quit taking on that responsibility and for the love of all that is good and wonderful, don't dim your light in an effort to be accepted.

Ok, are we clear? It's time. Repeat after me:

This little light of mine
I'm gonna let it shine.
