He had that curious love of green, which in individuals is always the sign of a subtle artistic temperament, and in nations is said to denote a laxity, if not a decadence of morals.

Color me as one individual of subtle artist temperament who does not have a curious love of green. I discovered this year that I don't particularly like green which is problematic as my living room and my kitchen/breakfast nook are painted a pear green. When we bought our house, I loved the color in it until I realized that when choosing colors, I was more drawn to the dark and aged blue and the grungy gold yellow ... like this:

Within the next year, I will be choosing another color for the walls and we will begin the process of claiming this home in its entirety at our own. For now, I still love how creative and artistic it feels.

Given my general not-love for green, I don't have a lot around the house but I do have some beautiful little vases that sit on my kitchen window sill. I've claimed this little space as an altar of sorts, with faded flowers and old medicine bottles. This is beauty to me.
